This is an antique style copper finish pepper grinder. The wood is a tropical wood called marblewood. Marblewood is a tropical hardwood hailing from South America, Marblewood (Marmaroxylon racemosum), also known as serpentwood, has a straight and waving grain that stands dark and bold on the golden brown background wood. Exceedingly strong and dense, the interlocking coarse grain makes for peculiar and mesmerizing fluidity, though is difficult to work with—the saw blade does not like this wood. The rough texture can be sanded into a high luster, especially when finished with a high gloss clear coat.
